Field Before After Route Notes … Makalu La to sleep. Following day to BC. Sophie Lavaud, who was on Andreas Neuschmied's expedition, … that there was no problem on the descent. Note: The summit claims of Marco Confortola for ANN1, DHA1, LHOT, MAKA and KANG are now in dispute; see articles published by Explorers Web and Lo Scarpone (portal of the Italian Alpine Club). Sophie Lavaud telephone conversation with Billi Bierling on 11 August 2025: Sophie Lavaud said that Marco Confortola definitely did not summit! On the summit push, Camandona and Confortola started from C3. On the way, Marco Confortola fell into a crevasse between C3 and C4 and hurt his rib. Lavaud and Camandona continued and summited together. As the ridge was not fixed, the pair went down together and assisted each other. Lavaud stopped at C4 and Camandona continued to C3. After Confortola fell into the crevasse, he went back to his tent at C3, had some painkillers (Lavaud thinks) and attempted to summit again. Lavaud thinks he stopped on the steep slope before the col as this is where he took his alleged “summit picture”. When Lavaud was in her tent at C4 (it was already night), she heard someone shouting. Marco was outside her tent begging her for something to drink. After she gave him her thermos, she asked him whether he had a tent to stay. Confortola said no and disappeared. Lavaud fell asleep again and when she descended with Nima Sherpa in the morning, she saw a red point on the traverse between C3 and C4 far away. When she approached, she was saw Confortola lying there. He was sleeping. She woke him up and put him on a short rope and guided him to C3. She was convinced that Camandona would be waiting there, but he was not. They rested a bit at the Kobler tent. Lavaud made some soup while Confortola slept a bit. On their descent to C2, Confortola was very slow and when they were just above C2, Confortola told Lavaud to continue as he would be fine on his own. After descending for about 10 minutes, she realised that Confortola was not coming so she climbed back up again to find him and found him sleeping again. So she picked him up again and they descended to C2 where the rest of Lavaud’s team was waiting and where she finally got some support to assist Confortola. Back at BC, Lavaud was very exhausted and did not see Confortola again until they met at Hillary camp, where he finally thanked her. Arjun Vajpai Whatsapp statement to Billi Bierling on 11 August 2025: All the Sherpas stopped at the false summit. Till then Pasang Norbu fixed the rope up to the false summit. And then Ferran [Latorre] took lead from false summit and Hans [Wenzl] from Austria followed him. I was 3rd person behind them. Behind me was Boyan Petrov. He took the pictures of the three of us in front. Then slowly when the 4 of us started coming down, we saw some climbers coming from the false summit to real summit. Marco was not there. Hopefully coming to Nepal soon. -

Field Before After Summit Time -1500 Camps 32 Campsites BC,C1,C2,C3,Smt(18/09)BC,C1,C2,Smt(18/09) Route Notes Neil Laughton and Nima Kancha Sherpa rode bicycles around the summit. From www.lifeandfitnessmag.ie: The 2024 British Highest Bike Ride team included Tim Maw, Craig Wiltshire, Meriel Davis, Paul Clarke, and Giles Fairmann. They all made it to 6200m before Maw and Clarke reached a high point of 6438m, but conditions forced them to turn back. Laughton and Nima Sherpa continued to the summit, carrying their bikes on their backs for the final push. The expedition team was supported by six Sherpas, a chef, and 11 local porters. The ascent involved navigating unstable glacial moraine, steep snow slopes, and rock and ice avalanches. According to Laughton, the reduced oxygen levels at high altitude made the climb particularly difficult. During the climb, Laughton and Maw marked another milestone by playing a game of chess, adding another Guinness World Record to the expedition’s list. The summit party left camp at 2:30 am on 18th September, navigating snowy conditions with the aid of head torches. After a 12.5-hour ascent, the group reached the summit and completed their record-breaking ride. -

Field Before After Basecamp Date 2024-10-042024-10-06 Total Days 2018 Total Hired 10 No Hired FalseTrue Other Summits -Climbed Kaqur Kangri (KANT-243-01) Route Notes Climbed new route on Kaqur Kangri in Nov 2024 (via SW Ridge)Ridge). Notes from Spencer Gray: Approach: Gamgadhi to Takla Khola to Mayongthan Khola. Since there hadn’t been a report of a climbing expedition to this valley since 1998, and we had no photos of the lower half of the mountains, we were unsure what would be unclimbable, if anything. The only prior expedition and report suggested the potential for impassable seracs and walls, but only an in-person reconnaissance would confirm the possibilities. We examined Takla Kang, surrounding unnamed peaks, as well as Kaqur Kangri (Kanti Himal). Takla Kang had more obviously loose rock on several potential lines, with more significant melt-out, than the southwest arete of Kanti Himal, which seemed objectively relatively safe from overhead hazard, and with sound rock. Arrived BC on October 6, 4700m We climbed alpine-style, October 15-21, and did not set use set camps, after sleeping at the mountain’s base proper at 5200m. We bivouacked six nights total (in a small tent), two of those nights (nights 1 and 2) at the same site due to a stove failure that required retrieving a backup stove cached at the base. Had the stove failed on one of the subsequent days, we probably would not have summitted. Summited on October 21, ~10 am, Spencer Gray and Ryan Griffiths. Stayed 10 on summit, then descended all the way to base camp. Alpine-style, no fixed ropes used to climb (on day two of the climb, we fixed our two lead ropes (60m half/double ropes) in order to rappel a cliff to retrieve a backup stove at the mountain’s base and then returned to our bivouac the same day, bringing both ropes back up with us). No Sherpas, no oxygen. Used mules to carry suppliesl to base camp. Matt Zia ascended the first day to 5800m and chose to descend after reassessing his motivation. Devendra Tamang and Budhi Tamang accompanied us to base camp (from Kathmandu, and their homes in the Rolwaling region) as a logistics coordinator (fixer)/translator and cook, respectively. -
