| Route Notes | The seven Indians were members of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police. From SST FB page: In Memory of Ngima Tashi and Rima Rinji: With profound sadness, we share the heartbreaking news that, after days of relentless search efforts, we have not been able to locate our Sherpa Guides Ngima Tashi and Rima Rinje, who went missing in an avalanche on Annapurna. Despite every effort we made, deploying 2 search helicopters, assisted by 5 Sherpas from the immediate moment of the disaster, it has been 4 days, yet we have not found any trace of either of the two men. It is no longer possible for anyone to survive this long under the mass of snow and ice and prolonging search efforts on the slopes of Annapurna mean we are risking the lives of other Sherpas and members too. Thus, with a heavy heart, we have made the difficult decision to suspend the search and bid farewell to Ngima Tashi and Rima Rinje. We have lost two of our finest Sherpa Guides. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved Tamilies. On 7 April, 2025, at around 12 PM Nepal time, a massive avalanche swept down from above Camp I| (+5600 meters) while our team was ferrying oxygen cylinders in preparation for the summit push. Ngima Tashi and Rima Rinje were caught in the avalanche. Pemba Thenduk, who was also swept, managed to hold his ground and immediately began searching for them. He was soon joined by Nawang Thindu, Nima Wangdak, Lakpa Temba, and Mingtemba. Despite the tireless efforts of these five brave Sherpas, there was no sign of the missing men. Sirbaz Khan - 12 Apr 2025 Approach: Trekking to BC B2 26/03 4200m C1 Did not sleep C2 28/03 5500m C3 29/03 6400m C4 06/04 6970m Smt 07/04 by Sirbaz Khan at 10:30 am. Khan climbed without Sherpas or supplemental oxygen. Blacha and Khan established a small C4 at almost 7000m, since they climbed without O2 and a summit push from C3 would have been too long. His first summit push was on 06/04 when he reached 7300m. The route-fixing had not been completed and he was forced to turn back. Second summit push started at midnight on 07/04 from C4. Khan climbed alone, Blacha had started earlier. He reached the top at 10:30 am and stayed for about 10 minutes. Fair weather, not much wind. Back to C4 at 2 pm. On 08/04 to C1, on 09/04 to BC. Left BC on 10/04. Slight frostbite on toe, nothing serious. He will fly back to Pakistan on 14/04 for 2 weeks before coming back to Nepal to attempt Kangchenjunga. |
