Route Notes Polish Himalayan Expedition Tilicho Lake and Climbing - 25 October 2007 The climbing party never was able to reach base camp for their intended climb via the NE Spur to North Ridge. They did finally get to the south side of Tilicho Lake on 12 October and the camp at 4920m for a diving party with them, but no farther. There wasn't a day when it did not snow, and even if they had gotten to their base camp north of the lake, the weather was very bad and the mountain was avalanching day and night. They left the lake camp on 17 October to return to Kathmandu. The members came back to Kathmandu on 23 October, but their baggage did not come with them: porters were unable to reach the lake camp for days. The team expected it to arrive on the evening of the 28th or on the 29th. Polish Himalayan Expeditions Tilicho Lake and Climbing The expeditions has two teams one for diving and another one for climbing. The members arrived in three different dates. First team: Leader Kwiaton and two climbers Lwow and Witkowski arrived Kathmandu on 21 Sept and left 29 Sept by bus to Besisahar and plans to reach BC on 7 Oct via Manang. The team also has three divers. Second Team: Two climbers Knapczyk and Pereveczo arrived Kathmandu on 1 Oct left by car to Pokhara to take flight to Jomsom on 3 or 4 Oct. The second team tried to go to BC through Thorang La (according to Ganesh) but could not reach due to lots of snow and half-way the leader told them to go back as the expedition has called off climbing. The two members returned Kathmandu on 14 Oct and stayed in Buddha Hotel. Third Team: Two climbers Jawien and Snopczynski arrived Kathmandu on 15 Oct. These two climbers and Pereveczo of team two will leave Kathmandu for Pokhara on 18 Oct and try to fly to Hongde on 19 Oct or 22 Oct to proceed to BC. According to Pereveczo the first team now is on the south side of the Tilicho Lake. Climber Knapczyk is trying to return to Poland. Climbing team team will not take oxygen. Diving team will have special kind of oxygen in plenty.
