Route Notes At Manang village, where team arrived on 11 Oct morning, it was snowing and porter strike as a result; stayed there that next day used cache of clothing including shoes and goggles left there by the trekking agent Thamserku and rented by Amical. Left 12th Oct and arrived Khangsar village and 20 cm snow on ground here, so stayed in Khangsar in lodges; in lodges leader sheltered porters and Sherpas as well as members. 13th good weather, sunny but cold and clear sky; lovely winter landscape, all white, no traces; dried out gear. 14th at small lodge southeast of Tilicho Lake where porters stayed but members in tents and light snowfall in afternoon. 15th up to west side of lake at 4900m campsite; snow more than 30 cm deep, so Bucher, 2 members and teams 3 Sherpas had made track for porters to this camp site. That night -25 degrees at this low altitude; Bucher that afternoon sent porters down to Manang. 16th to 5300m on small hill northeast of lake to have view of Mt. Tilicho (Bucher, 7 members and 3 Sherpas went here) making tracks all the way in 30 cm deep snow and cold. All decided not possible to attempt mountain: deep snow and constant avalanching. Returned to rest of members and held meeting. All unanimous agreement to make no attempt but go back to Manang village. Bucher, sent to Sherpas to go, quickly to Hongde to bring donkeys to team's heavy luggage where team went highly laden to Manang village in 2 days, on 18th Oct. 20th left Thorang La, arrived 23rd Oct, where made a base camp and climbed Thorang Peak, southwest of Thorang La 6165m high-deep snow but not really a climb just a trek. On summit Bucher, Bischof, Ehlert, Koenig, Lochner, G and M, R Koss, Tenbusch, Trozer and Sherpas Pasang, Pemba and Pemba on 25th Oct. From here to Muktinath and Jomsom and flew Jomsom to Pokhara.
