Route Notes BC near Tilicho Lake High point at C1. 3 members stayed 1 night in C1 and down to BC 5 Oct. Weather good generally but soft snow encountered on most days. Abandoned climb on 5 Oct because of insufficient time, according to Yip (although on 18 Sept in Kathmandu, Yip said they would return to KTM on 13 or 14 Oct "if possible" flying from Jomsom to Pokhara to KTM). Tenzing Sherpa to Shrestha - 21 Oct: The 3 members reached C1 on their 3rd attempt. Every day they climbed same distance and returned to BC. It was difficult for them to climb. Georges Frey, French Tilicho leader, to E Hawley - 15 Oct 2000: Singaporeans said they came to mountain too fast by flying to Jomsom and taking only 2 days to reach BC by difficult Mesokantu Pass. Too fast to higher altitude. Also were surprised steepness of NE Spur. Were happy to spend on night at C1. That was their goal (in KTM they said they planned to place a C2 at 6200m at junction of Spur with North Ridge and go to top Oct or before). They were very tired from their fast trek from Jomsom to BC in only 2 days. Sherpas: Tenzing Sherpa, Thame, Evr smt 93 Indian Women Exp; 96 Spring American (Roffal); 97 Spring British, 98 Spring British; 99 Tibet Japanese & 2000 Oct Tibet Japanese Nima Nuru Sherpa, Thame Dawa Tsering, Dolakha
