Route Notes BC on stream just below rock face southwest of peak C1 on rock face C2 at top of rock face C3 at snow ridge C4 at east side of snow ridge near junction of SW and SE Ridge. Stream runs south into Langtang Khola just W of Langtang Village; rock face is immediately east of stream; BC was 1.8 km north of khola. On ridge above C3 climbed right (east) side of ridge because ridge itself had too many peaks and snow apron. 1st summit bid on 13th Dec from C4 by Ji, Kim Jin-Hyun, Kim Young-Soo and Dorje Tamang; reached about 7000m and defeated by very strong wind and down to C2 & C1. One tent lost at C3 (blown away with walkie-talkie, camera, video camera, etc inside). 2nd bid 18th Dec from C4 by Kim Jin-Hyun, sirdar Bir Bahadur Tamang and Dorje Tamang: left C4 at 6 am, on top at 1 pm up steep snow face (had on 17th fixed rope up face to SW Ridge) in wind and some clouds, so cold; reported by walkie-talkie they were on top by Nepalis. Lee and Ji in BC also talked to Kim on top; they were OK, would be late (no time specified) getting to C4; at 6 pm from C2 saw 3 men by telescope at c6900m; at 8 pm lost contact. Before this big noise heard of avalanche and in talk summiters say cannot find C4 and fixed ropes which must have been taken away by avalanche so want to biv where there are (had biv sacks high on mtn, but Lee doesn't know if Tamangs took them along to top but Kim did) and spend night there. After that no more walkie-talkie and no sign of them. 19th 1 member in C3 and he tend to go up but couldn't reach C4 area because fixed ropes gone in avalanche. Asked for helicopter for search and trekking agent sent there more men for search on ground. 20th helicopter arrived at Langtang Village with 3 men but nothing could be seen (Tourism Ministry report of pilot sighting is wrong). Lee met them in village and told them to go back to KTM because he didn't have enough rope and gas for them to search on mountain. 16th helicopter again to village and Ji got in but could see no trace of lost men. C4 region all changed after a number of avalanches.
