Route Notes BC at normal site for lower BC C2 on SE Ridge where route gets onto ridge C4 at Swiss snowhole. Neither this or the Swiss Langtang expedition would have succeeded without the other: British put in lots of fixed rope at first, Swiss came along and put in more high up which British too tired to do. C2 to C3 the crux of climb: rocky ridge requiring fixing rope. Had several long periods of very unsettled weather. Declan MacMahon went up one day ahead of Rees-Jones and Howard; Rees-Jones and Howard turned back an hour or so from summit because of strong wind. Very safe route from objective danger. Climb was more difficult than expected from looking at photos. Only 3 left at end because they were the only ones who could stay away from home so long.
