Route Notes This trip was a reconnaissance for a future climbing expedition in the Kanjiroba Himal east of Patrasi, in the area of Jagdula Lekh and western edge of Shey Phoksundo National Park. Grobel wanted see whether it was possible to approach the area where he wants to climb by crossing a pass he had in mind. He and Baillif flew to Jumla on 30 March and trekked north to Talphi village, where they arrived on 3 April. Then north to the Chaudhabise Khola, south and southeast of Patrasi Himal and is known in this section by the local people as Bijora Khola; they moved southeast to point 3970m (on the Nepal Survey Department-Finnish map Kanjirowa Himal, Sheet no. 2982-11) in this valley, then east to make a base camp on 4 April at 4550m on a slope overlooking the valley. From this camp, they went north to the pass at 5500m from which, on the 6th, they had a good view of the area to the north where Grobel plans to climb in future. He saw that it is definitely possible to descend via this pass. They returned to the base camp at 4550m on the 7th and on the same day went southeast to camp at 5200m that day. On the 8th they continued southeast to 5660m. Now snow started falling, so they returned to 5200m. They stayed there on the 9th, then retraced their steps back to Bijora Khola and on the 11th they returned to Talphi village. On the 13th they started the trek back to Jumla, arrived there on 15 April and flew out the same day to Nepalgunj on their way to Kathmandu.
