Route Notes The team had no fixed camps above ABC at 5700m. Grobel's policy is to move tents and gear up the mountain as the climbers progress in small stages, but not descend in between campsites. This team progressed as follows: 19 April - 6000m 22 April - 6400m (most teams C1) 24 April - 6750m 28 April - 6900m 1 May - 7200m (most teams C2) 3 May - 7600m (most teams C3) 5 May - summit The summit party, Bonhomme and Verteneul with Sherpas Chhotemba and Rinji, left 7600m at 7:00 am (NST) and were on the top at 1:30 pm. They stayed on the summit for half an hour and saw Everest; others on the top at the same time were Ueli Steck, Dan Bowie and Ms. Sophie Denis. They descended to 7600m that day and were down in BC the next day. Non-summiting members: Grobel got altitude sickness on 5 May at 7600m because, he said, he hadn't taken care of himself while waiting to fix rope above 6700m. He went down to ABC. Kia developed cerebral edema on 22 April at 6400m. He descended to ABC on the 23rd and went home. Vanoli reached 6900m on 28 April, but found the climb too difficult technically and was back in ABC on the 30th. Viso left the expedition on 19 April because of altitude sickness. Vulin went down with Grobel on 5 May to ABC. Sherpas: Chhotemba Sherpa, 29/9/84, Makalu-9, no 8000ers Rinji Sherpa, 10/3/85, Yaphu-9, Sankhuwasabha, Dhaulagiri X1
