| Route Notes | C1 on North Face on German 1980 route C3 on North Face. 4 Sherpas went to Annapurna while Dhaulagiri climb on. Made route up to Dutch Rib, but avalanche took out rope they had fixed twice so route changed. Park and Kim 28th April arrive BC, on to ABC 30th, to C2 1 May, C3 made on 2nd May, on 3 May went for summit leaving C3 at 2:00 am (Park, Kim, Kazi and Gyalzen Sherpa), arrived top 1:10 pm; long time because new snow and some crevasses lower part of final climb; returned to C1 at 9:00 pm. BC on 4th May. Suddenly 5th May helicopter arrived BC, Park got in to fly to Annapurna BC, informed Um climb finished and back to Annapurna BC to collect people and gear and on to Pokhara. Sirdar was at ABC at that time so he coming to Kathmandu (via Jomsom perhaps). Face very dangerous from avalanching. Sherpas: Kazi (sirdar), 32, Solu, Everest 1993 with Park 1995 and other time Gyalzen, 35, Solu, this is his 1st 8000er Route was basically same as German's 1980 route (for central summit) to 7300m+, then traversed to normal route to summit. |
