Route Notes BC at normal South Face for BC site ABC at bottom of South Face. Pecovnik arrived BC 22 Sept. Knez and Sveticic did some acclimatization on nearby peaks to 5500m; one week constant rain; no climbing on Annapurna until Pecovnik arrived. From ABC on 3 Oct Sveticic to 6800m on face to deposit gear including tent rope and food & back to ABC on 4th Oct; 8th Oct after 3 days rest, Sveticic again up alone. At 8 am, stone avalanche and fell 100m down face and called by walkie-talkie after 1-1/2 hour and brought Sveticic down to BC at 11 pm. Sveticic had one at his each arm but moved on his own feet ("the difficult way [down] I fly"); neck broken in one place but all functions normal; face badly bruised. Wants to come again to Annapurna South Face, maybe in spring.
Accidents Knez had heart problem, never above BC on Annapurna; Sveticic neck broken
