| Route Notes | BC at same site as autumn 1984 Swiss on grass field (below Bonington BC) C3A at Bonington site (not good site). Bad weather with much snowfall (but not wind) stopped ascent. All down to BC 3 Jan to wait for better weather. 9 days in BC and again climbed 13 Jan and reached 6700m on 18 Jan trying to get to C4 but afraid of snow avalanche and returned to C3 and stayed there. But 5 Sherpas now out of action so not very well. 19 Jan deep snowfall and that finished climb. Not difficult route but some avalanche danger and requires strong team. |
| Accidents | Yamada at 7150m hit above knee by falling rock; Jan 17 two Sherpas hit by ice blocks on back and legs and one Sherpa fell but uninjured; 1 Sherpa fell into crevasse; 1 Sherpa frostbite in fingers |
