Route Notes Watanabe and Imada got frostbitten toes on Dec 18 (Imada was between C3 and C4 with Sugimoto), so with 2 of 4 members and 2 Sherpas injured, expedition had to stop. Was no sunshine on North Face, but did not feel cold. Dec 1-16 or 17 no wind, but then wind became strong. 19 Dec Watanabe could not descend from biv because very strong wind. 20 Dec he could descend only that day, the day all came down to BC. Watanabe frostbitten feet on 18th. Sugimoto: "I don't like big expeditions." Panima Sherpa struck by piece of ice between C2 and C3 on Dec 11 and on 18th Phurba Tshering fell in crevasse near C3 and hurt his backside. Watanabe and Imada frostbite will result in same loss at ends.
