Route Notes BC 14/09 4200m Bv1 26/09 5000m HPt 27/09 5800m by Moatti, Ratel, Bletton, Bonniot. The mountain was extremely dry and the weather was very hot this year. The way to BC required a lot of rope and was strenuous. As it was so warm, there was a lot of rockfall and it became apparent that the intended route (Ueli Steck in 2013) was impossible. When they reached their bivouac, they rested for a while and started to climb at 1 am. It was very warm and rocks were already falling in the middle of the night. When they reached a ledge, which was protected from the rockfall at 5800m, they stopped and spent the whole day there as it would have been too dangerous to go down in these conditions. They started their abseil at 5 pm, spent the night at bivouac 1 and descended to BC on 28 Sept. Igonenc climbed to 5000m on the South Face to have a look, but he never intended to go to the summit. Igonenc was the expedition leader for both the Annapurna I South Face and the Annapurna South East Ridge expeditions. He was listed only on the Annapurna I permit.
