| Route Notes | Excerpted from Carlos Soria website: 23 March Team established C1 (5200m) and C2 (5500m), then retreated to base camp to rest. Other teams continued on toward the summit, but the Soria team felt that the pace was too fast for them. 01 April Soria team went back up to C1 on 25 March hoping for a summit bid on 29 March. After the reported deaths of Mansikka and Pemba Sherpa, the team returned to base camp on 26 March. 27 April Soria team abandoned the expedition due to bad weather and deteriorating snow conditions, continous avalanching and loss of equipment stored at C2 (6500m). They made two brief summit attempts during April, but only reached 5500m. |
