Hancock together with Jangbu Sherpa [and with Chris Burke and Lakpa Sherpa] was on his summit attempt on 23 April; however, bad weather forced them to turn back. During their descent they were involved in a rescue mission. A Spanish climber [Inigo Castineyra] had got into trouble at C4. They helped him down to C3 where they stayed the night. The following day the Spanish climber was long-lined by helicopter from C3 to BC and from there to Kathmandu. He had both of his hands frostbitten. Watanabe and her Sherpa were on their summit attempt on 23 April, however, bad weather forced them to turn back. Hancock and Watanabe were at Annapurna BC when the earthquake hit. They could feel it, but there were no injuries. Oxygen: Taken and used from C4 to high point to C4 by Hancock and Watanabe. |
