First summit attempt was on 17 April together with Carlos Soria's team. On 18 April an avalanche hit the tents at C3. Nobody was hurt, but some of the tents were destroyed. When on the next day everyone descended to BC, Cadiach and Don Bowie from the USA stayed at C3 for another night. On 20 April they descended to BC. On summit push Cadiach left C4 at 9:30 pm on 5 May, together with Gheichisaz from the Iranian team. Conditions were good, but very cold and windy. They climbed up the couloirs towards the right, there was a lot of snow in the couloirs. He spent about 10 minutes on the summit. Weather was clear, but clouds came up during the descent. He descended to C5 where he arrived at about 5 pm. On 7 May he descended to BC. He left C5 at 10 am and arrived at BC at 8 pm. On 8 May Cadiach took helicopter to Tatopani, where he stayed for one day and then took a helicopter to Dhaulagiri BC for his next climb. Oxygen: Not taken, not used. |
