Route Notes BC 29 Mar 4200m C1 04 Apr 5100m C2 06 Apr 5700m C3 18 Apr 6400m HPt 18 Apr 6400m by Fernandez and Dorchi. Fernandez and Dorchi joined Carlos Soria and his team for their first summit attempt on 17 April. On 18 April the team was in their tents at C3 when an avalanche hit the camp. Nobody was hurt, but some of the tents were destroyed. The next day everyone descended to BC. During the descent, another avalanche happened between C2 and C1 at about 11 am. The avalanche did not hurt anyone, they just got dusted. On 1 May, Fernandez and Dorchi left BC directly to C2. They stayed one night. There was another avalanche at 8 am, but it did not hit C2. On 2 May they went to the plateau at 5700m and saw another avalanche. That's when they decided to abandon the summit attempt and descend to BC. They wanted to wait for better weather, but when it did not improve they decided to abandon expedition. They thought the mountain was too dangerous and there were too many avalanches. Fernandez left BC by helicopter on 5 May. Oxygen: Taken, not used Sherpas: Dorchi, Walung, Makalu-9, Makalu-Barun, 1/12/79, Everest X1, Lhotse X1, Makalu X2, Manaslu X1
