| Route Notes | Soon after arrival at Base Camp the base camp keeper (Ms. Nishino) got severe cerebral edema and had to be airlifted along with the leader (Mr. Takine) back to Kathmandu. The condition of Ms. Nishino was severe and the leader ended up staying in Kathmandu for more than 2 weeks and in the end had to accompany her back to Japan. 2 members stayed at base camp and they went as high as Camp 1 on 18 Sept but soon after returning to base camp on the same day, an earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale had rocked the mountain. According to Mr. Nishida and Mr. Nishimura, the whole mountain shook and mass avalanche followed soon after. After that ordeal, the leader Mr. Takine from Kathmandu decided to abandon this expedition. |
