Route Notes BC on 3 Oct first team and on 5 Oct second team at 4300m ABC at 5200m High pt at 6300m at 60-degree snow face (face starts approx from 5600m). Gim, Kang, Lee, Park and Shin started on South Face from ABC at 7 pm on 17 October. The team arrived at 5600m at 4 am of 18 October. Gim and Lee turned around to ABC from 5600m due to their weak physical condition. Kang, Park and Shin continued their climb. Around mid-day snow shower and rock fall started on the route when the three climbers arrived at 6300m. Communication failed between climbers and ABC. Two members went up to 5600m searching for the three climbers, but there were no traces of them. Lee said that climbers traversed between 200m-250m west to east at the altitude of 5600m, then continued straight up to 6300m. There were crevasses just below 5600m, the climbers might have fell into crevasses and buried by falling rocks and snow. On 19 October another attempt of search was done for three hours but could not find any trace of the missing climbers; then the team went down to ABC as there was risk of avalanche. On 20 October two members with four Sherpas started their search for the missing climbers. On 21 October three Korean climbers You Hak-Jae, Kim Hyung-Il and Jang Ji-Myung reached ABC and joined the search team which continued until 23 October. Again the search started with five-member Korean search team (Kim Jae-Soo, Kim Chang-Ho, Koo Eun-Soo, Jin Jae-Chang and Kang Seung-Kyu) with 11 Sherpas from 25 to 28 October, but the team failed to trace any sign of bodies. The remaining two members and the search team left BC on 30 October. The search postponed until next year summer.
