| Route Notes | Kim started his summit bid from C3 at 1:30 am on 3 October with Mun, Tshering, Sona and Pasang. When the team reached at 7700m around 10 am there was lots of snow, strong wind and total white-out. Then the team and other Korean expeditions including Miss Oh turned around. Kim descended to BC where he reached at 10:30 pm. There was heavy snowfall and rain in BC for 4-5 days. Note: Earlier on 25 September Kim, Mun, Tshering, Sona and Pasang were swept about 100m from a serac avalanche between C1-C2 at 6300m. Kim was hit on his back by a big serac block and swept about 70m. Kim still suffering from pain on his back. Mun was swept about 100m and lost his backpack and climbing gear and was about to fall into a big crevasse. Luckily he just stopped at the mouth of crevasse. Similarly, the three Sherpas also swept between 50m to 80m, but all of them survived. Some of the serac blocks from the avalanche fell down to BC. Kim may try agin on Annapurna I in the next Spring and may go to Cho Oyu first. Fixed rope: between C1->C2 and halfway to C3. |
