C3 at beginning of serac.
On 19th last part was very hard &and we arrived on top late; had left C3 at 9 am on very cold day &and got to top at 6:30 pm together, took photos &and turned back to descent quickly because getting dark. Prepared 60m rappel &and down with no trouble, but when Jose Goni descended, the snow stake (60cm long) came out &and he fell 1500m down South Face &and body was seen 2 days later by binoculars from C1.
Carlos Goni spent night in crevasse 150m from top and Iraizoz &and Villanueva at summit. Jose Goni had taken their … 7 pm). 20th 3 survivors reached C3 together &and slept there; 21st arrived at BC. 2 UK members met them, gave them drink &and accompanied to C1. In C1 were Spanish members … them. This morning Carlos Goni and Villaneuva by chopperhelicopter from BC to Kathmandu, but are really OK with only frostnip. |
