Route Notes BC at normal site C2 same as US this spring (at Red Tower) C3 at beginning of serac. On 19th last part was very hard and we arrived on top late; had left C3 at 9 am on very cold day and got to top at 6:30 pm together, took photos and turned back to descent quickly because getting dark. Prepared 60m rappel and down with no trouble, but when Jose Goni descended, the snow stake (60cm long) came out and he fell 1500m down South Face and body was seen 2 days later by binoculars from C1. Carlos Goni spent night in crevasse 150m from top and Iraizoz and Villanueva at summit. Jose Goni had taken their rope with him, they could not descent without rope in light (dark by 7 pm). 20th 3 survivors reached C3 together and slept there; 21st arrived at BC. 2 UK members met them, gave them drink and accompanied to C1. In C1 were Spanish members to go to BC with them. This morning Carlos Goni and Villaneuva by helicopter from BC to Kathmandu, but are really OK with only frostnip.
