| Route Notes | BC at normal site C1 same as Italian Kangchenjunga this autumn C2 same as Italian Kangchenjunga C3 same as Italian Kangchenjunga Great Shelf C4 in couloir of SE Face of Yalung. Same route as 1975 Spring Austro-German Expedition. 9 Oct C4 tent broken by wind but on 10th Oct Sulovsky alone from C4 to 8200m up steep couloir and hard climbing. At 11 am he decided not possible to make summit and returned to C3. He had gone to C4 alone from C3, where Visentin had stopped because tired. Now too late to mount 2nd attempt: 4 days later porters coming and flight from Nepal on fixed date. |
