| Route Notes | Laza made two attempts on Tukuche, once before his Annapurna expedition, then again after Annapurna. On the first attempt, the Laza and two Sherpas (Pasang and Nurbu) fixed ropes up to 6850m. Then they ran out of time as Laza and Pasang went to Annapurna and Nurbu went to Dhaulagiri. Laza Report: After Annapurna summit I spent 5 days in Tatopani and left again for Tukuche. We got the same route Marpha, Yak Kharka, Tukuche base camp. Very deep snow and bad weather. We reached base camp April 27; we have a lot of equipment and only two porters. We spent 3 days trying to locate the ropes that we fixed prior Annapurna summit. There was about 1-1.2m of fresh snow and we found only few ropes. This time we carried only 200m of rope because the fixed ropes were up to 6850m, about 100m under the peak. We worked hard for three days, but we could locate all the ropes. We abandoned the peak and left for Daulagiri basecamp on May 1 via French Pass. |
