Route Notes BC 11/04 5100m (Hidden Valley) C1 5800m C2 18/04 6200m Smt 20/04 Junction Peak (6700m) by Bakker-Dyos, Tait, Mackie, Percival, Dawa Rita Sherpa at 10:30 am 20/04 West Summit (6848m) by Mackie, Percival at 12 noon. Team spent two nights at C2 in high winds. On 20 April both summit teams left C4 at 6 am. They were roped up together (no rope fixed) and reached the Junction Peak together. It was very cold and Tait, Bakker-Dyos and Dawa Rita turned back due to the fact that they probably would have run into problems had all five of them continued. They all descended to C2, where Junction Peak team arrived at 2 pm and West Summit team at about 5 pm. On 21 April all back to BC. The reason they did not tackle the East (Main) Summit was that it looked too difficult and the weather was very windy for most of the time of the expedition. Mellor, Robinson, Howard, Webster, England, Levens, Pasang (UIAMG guide) reached C2 on 18 April to set up camp. The rest of the team remained at BC. It was a team effort as it was an expedition by the British Army and the risk involved did not allow for more members to go higher. From BC 12 of the members carried on to Dhaulagiri I BC, the other 12 trekked out.
