| Route Notes | The GMHM had taken an official permit basically for Shishapangma SW Face and the whole area lying around the base camp for its acclimatization. At first, the French didn't intend to climb the Triangle Peak, but when they saw there was no chance anymore to climb the SW Face of Shishapangma (High Point at 7000m), the group found up to 7 fixed rope lines in the historical corridor; then the team's motivation split. Jourdain Didier had left previously the BC, whereas Moatti and Bonniot eventually found motivation to climb. The light team did two bivouacs at the same place [before and after summiting]. "Sursunri" means triangle in Tibetan. Triangle Peak lies on the border between Nepal and China. The French have done the first known ascent of the mountain by the southeastern ridge. |
