Route Notes Approach: Lukla->Namche->Machhermo->Thame BC 21/04 4570m at the base of the face Biv 22/04 6000m at exit of face on the ridge Smt 23/04 by both members. Team figured out their route when they arrived in Thame and got a good view into the North Face. They chose what they considered would be the easiest route in the NE Face. Alpine style ascent, plan was to reach the summit in one push from BC. Set off from BC on 22/04 at 4 am. They arrived at the ridge and established their bivouac at 4 pm. Bivy location very windy, not much sleep, only some rest in the tent. Their stove was malfunctioning, and they couldn’t make water. Set off for the summit from bivy on 23/04 at 9 am. Followed the East Ridge in a westerly direction. Reached the top at 3:30 pm. Stayed for 10 minutes. Weather was not too bad, not very windy, or cold. Descent same as ascent. They packed their bivy and started rappelling from the ridge at 7:30 pm. Ice condition was good, 11 rappels down the face. Reached their former BC location at 2 am. Packed up all gear and walked back to teahouse in Thame. Got there at 5 am. Left BC on 24/04. Route details: WI 3+ / M3 Steep Snow Route name: Sunshine Spring Roll Oxygen: Not taken, not used Kyajo Ri: After a break in Namche, they hiked up to Machhermo and climbed Kyajo Ri in a single fast push. Ascent in 23.5 hour roundtrip from lodge in Machhermo. Set off from lodge at 12:45 am, on the summit at 1 pm on 01/05. Back to the lodge at 12:15 am on 02/05. Ascent via SW Ridge.
