Route Notes Banfield and Roberts first on Cholatse to 6100m. Tough conditions, lots of snow on Cholatse. Roberts and Knuuttila hiked into Thami, then to Tengpo, where they stayed for 2 days. Then from Tengpo they went to the first bivy. Biv1 11/10 5400m Biv2 12/10 5550m Biv3 13/10 5750m in the middle of head wall Biv4 14/10 5880m 15/10 rest day HPt 16/10 5930m at 9:30 am They couldn’t find any way that was protectable, no ice. Decided to abandon climb, rappelling down all the way to Tengpo on 16/10. Left some anchors on the descent, no bolts. They had planned to descend E Ridge after summit. Roberts will try again in April 2020. North Pillar never climbed before. Oxygen use: not taken not used Banfield was the photographer and never set foot on Tengkangpoche.
