Route Notes BC at Thami village ABC at bottom of North Face High point at ledge on NE Pillar. Expedition divided into 2 teams: Lienerth and Toloch tried a line starting up east side of NE Pillar and climbed to 5300m to ledge; fixed 350m rope, all ropes they had including climbing ropes to ledge and stopped because all of route was too much new loose snow on rock; this attempt made after acclimatization to Tashi Lapcha and back to mountain; made attempt on 16 Oct. Back to BC, snowing again old afternoon and evening; this was route of French attempt in Spring 2002 of French North Pillar (found rope and some equipment). After bringing down their ropes and abandoning Tengkangpoche, Lienerth and Toloch left BC 20 Oct and went to Tengkangpoche village, west of Thami and climbed South Ridge of Tengi Rongi Tau to a summit of 6140m on the ridge to the 6940m main summit; climbed from 21 Oct to this subsidiary summit on 23 Oct (with biv at 5100m and 2nd biv at 5600m both the ridge) and descended via SE Ridge to SW Face. Then they climbed to top of Parchemo with Martin Heuger on 29 Oct via East Ridge and back to BC and all climbing finished. Dutka and Heuger left ABC 12 Oct for North Pillar and made series of bivs: 1) at 4900m on 12 Oct: 2) 15 Oct at 5100m, 3) 19 Oct at 5250m. Rock climbing with loose snow covering it so very slow progress: fixed total at 280m rope, reusing some of it as they moved higher. On 20 Oct reached 5400m and quit because of snow on rock, very cold and windy. 21 Oct started down and 22 Oct reached BC. Dutka tried to solo left side of East Face on 28 Oct but stopped at 5200m because of unstable snow and back to BC same day.
