Route Notes Catalonian Tilje Expedition 2007 The team's approach route was by bus on 24 September to Besisahar then trekked up the Marshyangdi Khola to Koto village. They had to spend three days at Koto because of incessant rain which caused rock slides. From Koto north on Nar Khola to Phu Khola, east to Kyang (Kayang) village on the Mruku Khola. From here it was impossible to continue farther east because of waist-deep snow and snow avalanches. So back to Kyang and then to Phugaon and east to the site for Gyaji Kang base camp. From here on 12 October they went to 6000m on the glacier to the west side of Gyaji Kang in an effort to reach Tilje by this northern approach across this glacier. But here again they found the snow to be waist-deep and even deeper, and there was some avalanching off Gyaji Kang. So that they abandoned any attempt to reach Tilje and returned to Phugaon and Koto on their way back to Kathmandu. Miranda believes that Tilje is 6479m high, not 5697m as per the government's permitted-peaks list. He cites maps he has seen and says it is the peak 6479m on the HMG-Finnish map BAGARCHHAP, Sheet No. 2884-06.
