| Route Notes | Katya Goryshina of Royal Mt. Trekking (email) - 27 Nov 2012 The team climbed the North-West side of the mountain. They reached BC - 17 Sept (3800m) C1 - 23 Sept (4600m) C2 - 28 Sept (5200m) C3 - 29 Sept (5900m) 30 Sept they reached the high point at 5950m at 09:30 when Sergey Cherezov died in avalanche. The group was traversing the slope without using any ropes, Sergey was in the middle when the accident happened. His body was found about 500m down the slope. Other members of the group decided to terminate the expedition due to their friend death. The body was transported to Ktm by helicopter. There was no climbing Sherpas with them. They didn't use any oxygen. The team left BC on 3 Oct. |
