Route Notes BC at Pangpema C1 never occupied because Tate got sick & all in his party down to BC below (C1 pitched & occupied 21st on south rampant) High point at glacier on south side. On 16 Oct C1 pitched on south rampart but Tate got sick and all down, Howarth and two Havely's with Tate. Two Robb's and Bricknell then attempted mountains via some area of boulder field/slag and camped at about same place 21st Oct. 22nd made summit attempt to start of snow and ice difficulties and then turned back about 100m below summit. Two attempts were made on this rather undistinguished looking mountain. Mark Howarth, Jill and Rick Havely, and Alan Tate set up a high camp on the mountain, but were forced to abandon their attempt later that evening when Alan developed AMS (probably HACE). Fortunately Alan made a full recovery with descent to Lhonak and then later to Ghunsa (3400m). Ronnie Robb, David Robb and Bruce Bricknell made a second attempt a few days later and retreated about a hundred meters from the summit when a heavily crevassed glacier confronted them.
Accidents Tate developed cerebral edema at 5700m and went down to Ghunsa
