Route Notes Fixed ropes upto SW Ridge and half-way up SE Ridge; then ran out of ropes, so from there Mrs Mogi says, climb difficult on snow-covered ridges. Kono and Katakura very tired after getting very near top and had to be helped down to BC by 2 Sherpas each (one Sherpa came up to help escort them down). Mogi and Gyalzen only ones to top; others 3 members and 2 Sherpas stopped 15m before top because other members so exhausted could not continue up. Team left BC at 5:00 am on top 2:00 pm (others slow and stopped at 2:30 pm; return BC 6:30-7:00 pm (Mogi at 7:00 pm). Shyam Quikel, formerly of Tourism Ministry - 30/10/03 Sherpa Summit trekking applied for permit for this expedition but permit was never issued; he understood they had just gone trekking. Tashi Kang I (6386m), northwest of Jomsom, First Ascent Tokyo Workers Mountaineering Club: 16 led by Yuichiro Ishihura (39) entered Hidden Valley aiming at Tashi Kang I and III, set up BC at 5400m on Aug 11. Teruyuki Iwasaki (55), Chizuko Kono (55), Yasue Mogi (51) and Aki Katakura (48) made the first ascent of Tashi Kang I on Aug 14. Also other 3 members climbed Tashi Kang III on the same day.
