Route Notes Note: This team thought they were climbing Glacier Dome, but were actually climbing the 7069m peak east of Glacier Dome (now called Tarke Kang II). BC at south end of Tilicho Lake ABC at glacier at foot of steep North Face. Climbed in alpine-style from ABC following 2 lines. Peterek and Prielozny made 1st attempt: started from ABC 4 Oct and 2 biv on NE Face at 6500m and 7000m. Big problem of 1 meter-deep powdered snow at 7000m, so down on 6 Oct to 5500m that day, BC 7 Oct. Their route was direct line from 5500m towards summit. 5 Oct Baum and Smrz from BC to ABC and slept there. 6 Oct to 1st biv at 6200m on line to east of 1st line on NE Face. 7th Oct 2nd biv at 6700m on same NE Face. 8th Oct reached summit at 12:00 noon from face and then down 3 hours on skis to ABC. 8 Oct Prielozny from BC to ABC; at 5:00 pm up from ABC, climbed throughout night on North Face by new way on ice and hard snow. 9 Oct 8:00 am on summit and down across NE Face in Baum's footsteps to ABC meeting Baum and Smrz waiting for him there and all 3 to BC 10 Oct. NE Face not difficult to climb but ice dangerous for skis.
