Route Notes BC 23/10 4500m ABC 24/10 5300m (below glacier) C1 03/11 5800m (Fore)Sumt 31/10 6100m (east) by Ragazzo and Loreggian by 2 pm. Flight to Bradhapur. Two days in a jeep to Taplejung and Sekthum. From there they trekked three days to BC to Kambachen, from where they walked to BC in about five hours. Base camp was on grass with a small river where they could collect water. The way to ABC was on a rocky moraine and not very technical. It took them about 5 to 6 hours the first time as their pack were heavy. The second time with lighter packs took them 3 hours. They spent two nights at ABC they looked for the best route to climb the mountain. They descended to BC and stayed for a few days before they attempted the mountain. On 30/10 they ascended to ABC. For their summit attempt they left ABC at 4 am. They walked across the glacier for about 3 hours and started climbing at around 9 am. The route was a mix of rock and snow at an average grade of V and M4. They climbed in heavy mountaineering boots and crampons. They pitched some of the sections. They reached the fore-summit at 2 pm. When they looked across to the main summit, which was about 100m horizontal distance they decided that the ridge was too dangerous. They descended (down-climbing and rapelling) to ABC where they arrived at about 6 pm. On 01/11 they descended to BC. On 03/11 they ascended again in order to attempt the summit ridge again. They took another ice axe and more snow stake and thought that if they had more time, they would be able to negotiate the ridge. They did not sleep at ABC, but put a camp at 5800m. However, as they were both feeling the altitude that night they descended again to BC on 04/11. They left BC on 06/11. Team also took a permit for Sharphu V.
