Route Notes BC at bottom of SE Face ABC at side of a mountain east of SE Face. Odenwald turned back on 12 April at Seti Khola junction of Humla Karnali because of avalanche danger on passes and returned to Simikot and KTM on 16 April, while Baumann on 12th to Sato Chola. 13th and 14th waited for his Sherpas to join him from valley southeast of Saipal at Chola but they had gone to Khagalgaon enroute to Simikot and joined him at Chola 14th evening. 15th from Chola to foot of SE Face of Saipal on 16th and 17th moved into closer to face and found 3000m high vertical avalanching SE Face. Also found there is no East Saipal Peak. Climbed nearby mountain to 5400m to search for an East Summit and to see SE Face, which was much too difficult for Baumann to climb even without avalanche danger. Stayed till 22 April on side of mountain for observation of wildlife. Then back to Simikot which reached on 24th. Arrived in Ktm 26th April with swollen ankle from hard trek to Simikot. Baumann will come to west side of Saipal this autumn to climb it (may use Intrek as agent). Found droppings and hair of creature that might be a primate (yeti?).
