Route Notes BC at Pangpema BC C1 at junction of Kangchenjunga and Mouse Glacier C2 on plateau above Mouse Glacier High point at below East Summit. David Goldsmith, Ben MacInnes, David Nicholls and Paul Randell woke up at 4:00 am to attempt summit. Goldsmith, MacInnes, Nicholls and Randell reached 6300m together and Randell and Goldsmith turned back because climbing was too difficult with steep, blue ice 55 to 60 degrees. MacInnes and Nicholls reached 6660m at 9:10 am and turned back due to wind and found there were vertical "castles" of loose unconsolidated snow impossible to walk on. Another summit attempt was made on 1 May by Andy Eddington and Tom Martin. They reached 6300m and turned back at 7:00 am. All these times are Nepal. Ramche, at Oktang they parted from the other British Services Kangchenjunga team, then they walked from Oktang to Mirgin La, to Ghunsa, to Pangpema Base Camp, near Kangchenjunga and Mouse Glacier. Mike Pearce reached base on April 23rd, but went back home due to stomach problems and cramps. He walked out. Mark Lewis had a helicopter evacuation from BC on April 23, was brought down from C1 on April 22 with pulmonary and cerebral edema the doctor Euan Lawson administered dexamethasone and oxygen. The next morning 23rd April he was losing consciousness - so they flew him out.
