Route Notes BC 30/09 4900m C1 04/10 5400m C2 05/10 6050m C3 09/10 6300m HPt 10/10 6850m by Porsche, Hennecke and Phurba Sonam Sherpa at 6850m 4:45 am. Team started from C3 to the summit at 2 am. It was windy, around 60 km/h. The day before the IMG group summitted, but their traces could not be found because of snowdrift. Team had trouble finding the route to the summit, only some flags left by previous teams provided some orientation. Siegfried Reutter turned around at 6480m at 3:30 am because he wasn't feeling well that day. He descended to C3 where he tried to rest for a couple of hours hoping that the wind would abate. Porsche, Hennecke and Phurba Sonam turned around at 6850m because Porsche had developed a problem with his eyes during the ascent and eventually wasn't able to see anymore. Hennecke and Phurba Sonam helped him down to C3 where they arrived at 5:45 am. Entire team reunited at C3 and descended together to BC. They reached BC at approx. 3:30 pm. Team left BC on 13 Oct. Fixed rope: about 200m meters between C1 and C2. Oxygen: not taken not used. Sherpas; Phurba Sonam Sherpa Expedition cook Buddha Ghale carried loads to C2 once.
Accidents Porsche had eye problems and got blind during ascent (no snow blindness). Eyes pretty much recovered now, but he will have his eyes checked when back in Germany.
