Route Notes From Desnivel.com: The Catalan expedition formed by the brothers Oriol (20 years) and Nil Cardona (24) with his father, Joan (56), Mireia Miro (26), Gerard Garreta (42), Marta Riba (42), Marta García (22), Gerard Vila (25) and Àlex Masdeu (35) have just returned from their expedition to Dhaulagiri 7 (7246m). They are all mostly mountain skiers, besides climbers and runners. The goal was to try an "easy" mountain of the Himalayas with the mountain skis and learn and live the experience of the high mountains, but bad weather conditions made the expedition a great lesson about how hard that is to make the summit. "We had one day of bad weather that was enough to spoil everything, that was the catastrophe," says Joan Cardona. The facts were these: was a storm in the Bay of Bengal, which resulted in a devastating typhoon that fell in the area of the Dhaulagiri where they were and left more than one meter of snow from the 4500 meters. {Subsequently, the team was only able to climb up to 6000m due to the deep snow.]
