| Route Notes | The foreign climbers were a mountain guide (Gruber) and his client (Mosheimer) whose ambition was to reach an altitude of 7000m. They reached C1 on 11 May, but immediately went back to BC. On the 14th, they climbed from BC to C1 and slept there; on the 15th they pitched C2, and on the 16th they made C3 at 6300m. With their two Sherpas, they went up from C3 on 17 May at 11:00 am and an hour later they arrived at 7050m. It was cloudy and very windy, and Mosheimer was tired. Now that he had achieved his ambition, he decided to turn around. During their descent, they stopped from time to time for ten minutes while the wind briefly dispersed the low clouds; they did this about six times. They returned to C3 at about 4:30 pm that day and were back in BC the next day. They left BC on 19 May in a helicopter that flew them to Dunai, and on the following day it took them to Pokhara and Kathmandu. Sherpas: Dawa Sherpa, 29/12/72, Najing, Garma-3, Solu Thirendra (Thiren) Yakha, 2/3/72, Khuwapok-2, Dhankuta |
