Route Notes Arrival BC (4900m) 21 October 2011 C1 (5400m) 23 October 2011 1st night, 26 October 2nd night C2 (6000m) 24 October 2011, 27 October 1st night C3 (6600m) 28 October 2011 1st night Summit (7250m) 29 October 2011 Departure BC 2 November 2011 Our HA Sherpas have been active above BC, carrying loads, installation of all three camps: Ang Gyaltzen Sherpa (Sirdar) Norbu Tamang Fur Sona Sherpa Chongba Sherpa Team departed high camp at 1:30 am, good weather, but very low temperatures and a lot of wind. All 4 members reached 7100m, the beginning of the summit ridge. Annie Rivier collapsed with frozen hands and nose at 06:00 in the morning. Jan de Lint, Denise Pianta, Ang Gyaltzen Sherpa and Norbu Tamang brought her down to C1. She could walk herself. Jan de Lint and Ang Gyaltzen Sherpa continued with her to BC, and arrived at 06:00 in the evening. Daniel Burnat and Chongba Sherpa summited at 08:00 and joined the others who were on their way down with Annie Rivier. On the way down with Annie Rivier her hands and nose appeared to be seriously frozen. With the satellite telephone helicopter assistance was requested. A Fish Tail helicopter landed next day (30 October) at 10:20 am in BC and brought Annie Rivier (after she spent a bad night in BC) to hospital in Kathmandu. Hands and nose could be saved "in extremis." The average age of the members was 67 years. Would have been nice to see all these oldsters together on the summit, but it is also nice to know that Annie Rivier can use her hands again and still has a nose!
