Route Notes BC at Kakot village ABC at normal BC site (2 nights from Kakot) C1 at foot of NE Face C2 on NE Face C3 on NE Face. Of the three women members, only Monika was actually a dedicated climber. Niquille had a severe accident in 1994 and is confined to a wheelchair. Hansen is her physiotherapist, so she spent most of her time with Niquille in very low BC in Kakot village, the least village in the Kakot valley and two days trek from the normal BC (this team's ABC); this was as far as their porters said they could carry Niquille. Hansen did climb up to C1 on 6 May, but never slept there. That left Brodmann Maeder and their three Sherpas to do nearly all of the climbing. But they had just pitched C2 at 6125m when one Sherpa, Ms Lhakpa Diki, developed cerebral edema. The two climbing members and the two other Sherpas, Ms. Pasang Chhutin and Ms Pasang Lhamu took her down to ABC that evening. She stayed there a while, then returned to C1 on the 10th. Brodmann Maeder, Pasang Chhutin and Pasang Lhamu returned to C1 on the 6th to C2 on the 7th, and pitched C3 at 6360m on the 8th. From C3 the three women set out for the top at 3:30 am on 9 May. At 12:30 pm they reached 6833m, then had to retreat: the snow here was quite deep, and Pasang Chhutin had no more strength in her legs. They descended to C1, where they arrived at 5:00 pm. Their climb was finished. On the 10th they trekked to their BC at Kakot and rejoined the other two members. Sherpanis: Ms Lhakpa Diki Sherpa, 1987, Kharikhola, Solu, no 8000ers Ms Pasang Chhutin Sherpa, 1984, Monjo, Chaurikharka, Solu Ms Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, 10/6/84, Gumila, Chaurikharka, Solu Everest 17/5/07
