Route Notes The expedition flew from Kathmandu to Juphal. They trekked along the Thuli Bheri Khola to Laisicap, then the Bharbung Khola to Karkot and climbed from there to BC. The summiters were Drexler, Hinterwimmer, Netzer, Pasang Temba and Pemba Jangbu. They left C3 at 3:00 am and were on the top from 11:15 am (Pemba Jangbu) to 12:00 noon (Hinterwimmer and Netzer). The weather was clear with strong wind from the southwest. The members slept in C2 that night, the Sherpas went down to BC. Non-summiting members: Boerder-Remberg and husband Edgar Remberg got to C1 only, then abandoned their climbing effort because of bad coughs. Deunk also got to C1 only, developed diarrhea and stopped climbing. Reuter reached C2, but found the wind was too strong on summit day. Schoederlein went to C2, but thought the wind was too strong to try for the top. Schoenfeld went to C1 only, had high altitude problems. Schubert also got to C2, but found the wind too strong for a summit bid. Siempelkamp reached and slept in C2, but the strong wind during the night frightened him very much, and he descended to BC. Trisl gave up after reaching C1 because of a permanent headache. Sherpas: Pasang Temba, 20/1/83 (6/10/2039), Tashigaon, Makalu-5, Everest X1 Pemba Jangbu, 16/2/86 (5/11/2042), Bupsa, Jubing-5, Solu, Makalu X1
