| Route Notes | High point on SE Face. Chumba Neru and Mingma went up to 5800m to fix the rope. 30 April rest. 1 May 2 reconnaissance up to 5600m by O'Leary. 2 May reconnaissance up to 5800m by Hasler, O'Leary, Staples. 3 May all 3 and Sherpas tried to establish C1 but left gear at 6100m as the snow was too hard. May 4 rested. 5 May set up C1 at 6200m. 6-7 May rest. 8 May slept at C1 (all three). 9 May reconnaissance by all 3 up to 6400m and came down to C1. 10 May summit attempt by all 3 but abandoned at 6900m due to snow conditions. Staples and Hasler slept at C1 and O'Leary went to BC. 11 May left BC. Stewart and Penny left early because of the weather and they had to take pictures at Periche. |
