Route Notes BC at 2 hours east of normal BC ABC at moraine C1 on face of East Ridge C2 on face of East Ridge C3 on East Ridge between 6375m and 6126m High point at East Ridge. C2 destroyed by falling rock. On 1 Oct new tent taken there to sleep in on way to C3 and ridge. Stopped climb at 6550m because ran out of ropes, pitons and snow bars (needed 1500m rope more). Rock unstable and loose before ridge; on ridge many cornices and snow was slush. Now understood why others haven't gone this way. 3 Sherpas balked at crossing snow bridges as too risky. Route was basically same as Kim's attempt in 1984. Yu got sick and was replaced by Hong, a sponsor who was trekking in area (not officially recorded with Tourism Ministry).
Accidents Yu altitude sickness and left; nothing else
