Route Notes BC at Lake/Gorak Shep High point at East Ridge. 3 attempts for summit, twice reached Col 1st above and once 100m above C2 and atopped there by avalances. 1st on 16th reached 6950m by 3 members. Much more difficult than expected: ice and snow and on ridge broken crevasse meant climbing overhanging upper lip. Rope fixed mostly between C1 and C2 very steep. 2nd summit bid 17th again cloudy weather and heavy seracs; was by same 3 members, reached same maximum altitude although tried different line. 3rd summit bid 20th again same 3 members. 1 member hit by ice block on upper arm and turned back at 6500m; other two went 50m higher and then quit because more falling ice blocks.
