| Route Notes | BC same as British and Germans C1 same as British and Germans C2 same as British and Germans. Saw fatal accident of Icelander due to exhaustion and were careful not to push selves to limit. Did not make a 2nd attack on summit because of danger above C2. Was very happy cooperation with other teams on mtn and who would go up when very good weather. Had moved quickly up on mtn for fear weather would deteriorate. On 11 Oct were 3 members: left camp at 4 am, 2 members reached col and up ridge to 6900-7000m and stopped there because wanted to save strength for safe descent, especially in view of Icelander's fall. Waited here for Koeblinger, who reached summit alone at about 11 am and rejoined at C2 after he was seen descending. He arrived at 2 pm at C2. Other 3 members went only to C1. Were afraid of dangers on upper part of route and Mueller and Ruffiner left BC on 8 Oct. |
