| Route Notes | BC at 5250m above Gorak Shep, where planned to put it C1 at 5700m at bottom of East Ridge High point on East Ridge. C1 to C2 broken snow, and same rock. Fixed 50 pitches rope from C1 towards C2, which planned to put at 6200m, but avalanche hit Mitsuhata at 2:00 pm on 6th Oct and climb over. He had been searching for site for C2. Other members went up again later but only to bring down gear and would leave BC 11 or 12 Oct. Mitsuhata left 10 Oct by helicopter. Mitsuhata broke left leg when snow avalanche hit him 6 Oct and he fell 40m (a full pitch) till stopped by rope and other member helped him to BC, which he reached 7 Oct. Also had trouble breathing and used oxygen during descent to C1. |
