Route Notes BC between 2 lakes southeast of South Ridge ABC at foot of South Ridge-East Face C1 on South Ridge at start of ridge High point at 6350m on South Ridge. Peaks Freaks Pumori Expedition, led by Timothy Rippel - 7 Nov 2008 While members stayed in C1 on 27 October, two of the team's Sherpas went from BC to the top of the fixed ropes already in place and fixed more rope to 6350m and then stopped there because of the unconsolidated snow above. They reported it was too dangerous to go higher; it would be impossible to fix any anchors in such snow. Because of the dangerous snow conditions, and the team was running out of time, Rippel decided to abandon the climb. No members went above C1. In C1 on the 27th were Bullington, Kijwanichprassevt, Dew, Mangles and Searle waiting to go higher when the ropes were in place. The Sherpas who reached 6350m were: Kaji Sherpa, Feb 1963, Loding, Solu, Everest X5 and three other 8000ers X1 each Dorje Lama, 7/4/71 (25/12/2027), Churung Kharka, Bhakanje-2, Solu, Ever X3, Cho Oyu X2 Four members left early: Irvine went only to ABC, left expedition on the 15th because of a sinus infection. Lindstrom also had a sinus infection, climbed to 6100m and left on the 17th. Loeffler got to C1, then left on the 20th to return to Canada to receive an award in the field of outdoor recreation, which is the subject she teaches. Powys also left on the 20th; she got to 6100m, then ran out of energy.
